I do believe that those two equipment are a reference in my arsenal of gears; at least were. Even with all the praise I gave to the duo and no matter how much I wanted to keep them, I could no longer afford to do so. First let me talk a bit about the history and the fuss behind those two legendary camera and lens in the Nikon lines. The F2 Titan is simply due to its sturdiness; to the best of my knowledge there are no Nikon SLR cameras that were built to this standard. I do believe that there are some pure titanium bodies that were released, which are very rare and most likely be found in auctions.
Of course the camera is totally mechanical and the operation is very smooth. The viewfinder is a thing of beauty in the 35mm category; you can manually focus like a breeze. Ruggedness is where the F2 shines, it would have lasted me for ages and most likely be of use till the end of my photographic journey.
The Noct Nikkor on the other hand is everything that the F2 Titan is not in exception that they are both legendary in the Nikon line up. The Noct was special at the time of its release due to the aspherical element in the lens construction.
But nowadays with all the high-resolution Nikon sensors, the Noct cannot make the most of them since the technology behind it is obsolete. It has become more of a collectible item than a tool. Of course you can still use it on modern SLRs, but it just was not designed for them. My arsenal of Film cameras and lenses is what I would describe as tool VS collectible. My ownership of this duo was mainly a matter of want and not need. Actually shooting film for me is a want, not a must. In the end I own gears to shoot with, not to collect. The combo was too dear and no longer made sense to keep when my Hasselblad system consists of three lenses now, which covers the focal lengths that I need and the latter is cheaper. Moreover the dynamic range and resolution of the mm films are obviously way better than 35mm, which makes it easier to scan digitally.
Nonetheless, the F2 Titan and Nikkor Noct are capable of producing great images. After all it is purely mechanical and does exactly what you tell it to. Moreover the opportunity cost was what led me to finally make the move. Though the Titan appreciated in value while the Noct depreciated; which means that they are most likely less and less in demand.

Neither one was F3HP. What surprised me is that the store owner insisted that F3HP was not a fully mechanical camera. He claimed that the last fully manual Nikon was F2. Now, I am not a Nikon expert, but I was very surprised. Not only it was the last fully mechanical camera, it was the last handcrafted camera from Nikon. Camera is fully functional without any battery needed only for a meter. There are very many sites with the features of F3 and others. You can compare it yourself. If you want a completely mechanical camera, this is the one to get.

Now that I had it, I had to shoot with it. This camera is what started my serious return to film photography. I have to admit, the first few outings made me nervous: I was shooting with a very rare, very expensive classic, in nearly perfect condition. Making a mark on it would seriously affect its value. The finder, however, is not something from a modern camera at all. Eye relief is more than fine for somebody wearing glasses. And unlike modern finders, the mirror was still perfectly aligned after over 30 years — the infinity hard stop on my manual focus lenses has the split-prism lining up perfectly at infinity.
The F2 will show a difference in brightness and depth of field down to f2, making critical focusing a breeze anywhere in the frame. There are few controls on the camera body itself, and all of them fall under your right hand — shutter speed, wind lever, shutter button with locking collar, DOF preview button and mirror lockup lever, self timer lever. All buttons and dials have a very satisfying feel, owing to the fully mechanical innards.
Pretty much everything moves against a hard detent or a tension spring. Rewinding is off a crank on the left hand side; you open a keyed tab on the bottom of the camera to release the back, and pull up the rewind lever to admit or release the film canister.
In practice, the camera is very intuitive to shoot. All you have to do is set exposure, compose, focus, and hit the button. And I like that; I like the challenge, I like the way it fits and feels in my hands, I like the bright, airy, punchy viewfinder. The camera is no more than the distilled essence of a facilitator: light-tight box, shutter, and film transport. But, boy does it do its job well.

A prime lens has a fixed focal length. In general, these are sharper, with a wider aperture. A true macro lens has a magnification of This means that the image produced is a life-size representation of the subject being photographed. The zoom range is the ratio between the longest and shortest focal lengths.
A higher zoom range means that the lens is more versatile. At the shorter end of the lens you get the widest angle of view. This allows you to fit more of the scene into the photograph based on APS-C format.

This allows you to fit a small portion of the scene into the photograph, such as when you are zooming in on a subject based on APS-C format. More blades is often an indicator of a better quality lens. It also allows you to achieve much nicer looking bokeh when blurring out your background, whereas a lens with less blades will often produce harsher, more polygonal bokeh.
With a wider aperture the sensor can capture more light, helping to avoid blur by enabling a faster shutter speed. Nikon F3HP Vs. F2
Probably only a handful were made at the very start of F2 Titanium production, being quickly replaced by the unmarked F2 Titanium, which was replaced by the "Titan" version. Although the F2 Titans generally sell for more than the plain F2 Titaniums in the US market, the unmarked Titaniums are actually rarer.
Generally the F2 Titans start with a 79 serial number, and the plain versions with 92, though exceptions have been noted. The top plates, bottom plate, back door, and prism cover are Titanium. This provides the toughest coverings for the most extreme professional use. Strangely enough, the leatherette is a slightly different pattern than the regular F2's -- which means if you need a replacement back the regular ones won't do.
